James takes sits back down again as Elizabeth Weirs voice fills the bridge, James listens to her message before smiling and replying

"Nice to hear a friendly voice out here, I was beginning to think we were alone"

Following her reply the technician next to her looks over "We are recieving a data package from Atlantis...on screen now"

James takes a look over at the co-ordinates and nods to the technician implying him to plot a course

"Lets not keep Atlantis waiting" James said as she leaned back in her chair.

The technician pushed a few buttons on his console and the Falcon disappeared into Slipstream

We arrive at the planet colony where the Maru is located.

"Trance I'm going to go down and collect the Maru. While I'm gone, check with Elizabeth on Atlantis to be sure Bekk is not there and run scans for those fake starfleet ships"

As I head off the command deck, Tyr is walking in

"Tyr, you're with me come on, lets get the Maru!"

We beam down to the colony and I talk with some of the crews there. Tyr goes to the Maru to search the ship and take it back. None of the colony officers have seen Beka since she left the tavern, but told us there had been people here they didn't know. Some of them seemed suspicious.

One of them said that he had spoken to her and when she left she told him she was late for a meeting at HQ and was heading back to her ship.

I tap my comm, "Tyr, seems our suspicions might be confirmed,...." I tell him what the officer told me, that Beka was on her way back and seems she never got there. "...Take the Maru back to the ship, I'll meet you there."

My comm was also open to Trance so that she could hear the conversation too "Trance prep for launch as soon as we're back. Is anything on sensors yet, any trace maybe of a fake starfleet ship?"

James was just returning to the bridge after going on her routine ship check. The ship has only just been put into service and she wanted to makes sure she was working to standards. As she entered the room, the Falcon came out of slipstream into a new area of space.

The technician checked the sensors "We have a ship on sensors ma'am, looks like a Starfleet ship, but I can't be sure. Weapons are ready to fire if needed"

James looks over his shoulder at the sensor screen "OK open a channel. No need to start a fight" She waited for the buzz of the com channel opening before speaking "This is Captain James of the USS Falcon, we pose no threat, do you read?" All crew members waited silently on the bridge for a response.

OCC: To explain Kat's disappearance in OC this is the best way. She got sick so she had to get someone else to act as Commanding Officer until better.

IC:

Kat had been quite ill and was not herself yet. She was briefed on the latest goings on by the others. She now knew that it was very serious. Voyager had been busily working to help her and to Command when needed in her absence.

"I don't feel myself yet, but I will... I know Mommy is very busy at the HQ so I don't want to jeopardize the mission because of illness. Just believe that we can do this all together. Rommy and Mommy know what they are doing as do her counterpart and the rest of the Voyager 2 crew."

The chief technician looked over at Captain James as the Falcon dropped out of slipstream "We're reading an encoded message Ma'am"

James looked back over at him and nodded "What does it say?"

The technician looks at his screen and reads the message "We are being reassigned to help with the rescue of the U.S.S. Boundless in the Milky Way Galaxy"

James was a little confused as to why they were being reassigned. She sat back down in her seat "OK, prepare a course and and take us into Hyperspace, full speed"

The tech nodded and the Falcon shot off into Hyperspace on its way to the Milky Way.

I listen to Rommie as she speaks, unsure of what she means of by our suspicions might be confirmed, while searching the Maru for Beka. Then I realizes what she speaks of.... my wife has been taken. And replies to Rommie's message.

"And when we get back to Andromeda you have best tell me what you believe has happened to my wife!

Tyr takes the Maru back to the Andromeda. I quickly check around the planet, then beam aboard.

I see Tyr on the bridge.

"Trance take us out!", I say to her.

"Tyr....", I say waving him over to a quiet corner to explain to him.

".. you know this universe is mixed up and crazy. Recently we've been made aware that some mirror versions of starfleet have appeared. Warnings have gone out, but not before some of them managed to trick starbases into giving them our upgrades. We now know of at least 4 confirmed ships that are masquerading as us with full USF technology. I believe they may have captured Beka. Now we need to find them. Trance detected a recent starfleet signature leaving this planet that doesn't quite match the rest of our fleet. We're first going to follow that."

McKay and I scheduled a meeting with Dr Weir and entered her office at the appointed time. As usual, her desk was cluttered with a lot of paperwork that she is forced to deal with being in charge of the logistics involved with the running of Atlantis. She was ready for us since she easily put her work aside as we came up to her desk.

“Even during quiet times”, McKay began, “You never seem to have a shortage of work to attend to.”

“Atlantis is a large city”, she replied, “I believe that I could relate to all of the work that the mayor of any large city back at home has to deal with.”

“Things have gotten pretty quiet around here”, I tell her.

“Moments that we should do our best to enjoy”, she answers, “when we have the chance to.”

“It is a good thing that the Hirogen figured out that they we are on to them and that their plan to turn many of the colonies in this galaxy into their private hunting grounds is not going to work out.”

“Even with the stolen Federation ships and other technologies that they acquired”, I tell her, “their best efforts to use them against us have all fallen short. The last three colonies that we have visited all tell the same story, the Hirogen left. News of the four different planets that we quickly liberated from them seems to have gotten around. None of them seem to want to stay and try to fight us off.”

“What chance did they truly have against this city anyway”, McKay adds.

“It is nice that we don't seem to have to fight them anymore”, she says. “Still, I intend to check on every colony world here to make sure that they are truly gone from this galaxy. Hopefully they have gone home, instead of using their new abilities to travel greater distances in search of new people to prey upon.”

“It is my understanding”, McKay says, “that Starfleet has already begun preliminary exploration of Bode's galaxy and plans are set to introduce some colonies there in the next year.”

“Bode's galaxy is the next one closest to us in the Local Group”, she answers. “Personally, I feel that we are moving out too far, too fast. I am as excited as anyone in regards to how far that we can travel using the slipstream drive, but I don't see the rush. There are still large regions in the three galaxies that we now occupy that are still unexplored completely.”

“I agree”, I add. “Starfleet is spreading out very far at a reckless rate. Sure all of the combined technologies from all of the Federation members has given us great military might, but who is to say what yet unknown alien adversaries may be out there. If we do encounter a new powerful enemy, we are spread too thin to offer protection to all of our assets.”

“Well let's hope that there are none out there to worry about”, she answers. She sits back against her chair to give us a better more relaxed look. “Now gentlemen, I know that you didn't come here to tell me about how boring things are right now. What's on your mind?”

I knew that McKay was too intimidated to make the request himself, so I decided to get to the point myself.

“Both Dr McKay and I”, I began, “Have read all of the de-classified reports about Captain Smeerworld and Garak's covert mission to the point where they are now at Starbase 157 Alpha.”

“It is quite amazing”, McKay adds with some excitement, “what they have gone through already. The whole incident with the U.S.S. Boundless is quite an adventure.”

“I must say”, she responds, “that Captain Smeerworld seems to have stepped up to his role as captain remarkably well. He is doing us proudly as an example of the best that can come from a member of the Atlantis team.”

“At the same time”, I cut in, “what has happened with the Boundless shows what a big mistake it has been to let Garak be a part of this covert mission.”

“I couldn't agree more”, she answered after a long sigh, “but this was all set up by Starfleet Intelligence. Both Admiral Janeway and I voiced our concerns to them when we heard about the mission details.”

“And by what Garak has done so far”, McKay says, “all of our concerns seemed to have been right on the mark.”

“Certainly”, I add, “Admiral Janeway could have put a stop to this right at the beginning.”

“Of course she could have, but she didn't. Because of that fact, as uncomfortable as I may be by the situation, I have faith that she has good reasons to let things go as they are.”

“It is my understanding”, I say, “that Captain Smeerworld and Garak are going to continue on. Even with what Garak has done.”

“This is true, but like I have said the matter is out of our hands.”

“Perhaps”, McKay adds softly, “there is something that we can do to help Captain Smeerworld.”

This seems to grab Dr Weir's full attention. She turns from McKay to give us both an equal, expectant look.

“As we had just talked about”, I begin, “things around here have gotten pretty quiet. The two of us figure that if we were to leave for a while, you guys should be able to carry on with checking up on the other colonies without us.”

“I'm listening.”

“If you would allow us to take one of the new Puddle Jumpers that Dr McKay has been able to add all of the new upgrades to, we can use the Stargates to get us near to Starbase 157 Alpha. From there, we would be able to use the upgraded cloak to shadow behind the Almar and be able to offer support to Captain Smeerworld if he comes in need of it.”

“Starfleet Intelligence has not requested that more support be given to Captain Smeerworld on his mission.”

“Captain Smeerworld is our friend”, McKay adds with a broken voice apparently caused by all of the emotion that he is feeling. “Who knows what Garak might do next? If it wasn't for these new aliens encountered in subspace, Smeerworld would be dead right now because of him.”

“You read the reports”, Dr Weir says in a voice that is soothing and reassuring for him. “Garak did steal the Almar to try to enhance his odds of returning to normal space safely, but he was not involved with the Vulcan pilot's plan to explode the warp core. In the end, he helped the Captain try to stop the Self-Destruct sequence.”

“And failed”, I cut in. “If Garak never teamed up with the pilot to begin with, she most likely never would have had a chance to create her plan involving the warp core to explode.”

“That may very well be true, still I have not been authorized to give any further support to Captain Smeerworld.”

“Perhaps then”, Dr McKay says again in a small voice, “you could just let us use the Jumper for some personal business that Ronon and I have.........”

“We will remain cloaked and silent”, I add. “If there is no need of our help, Garak and Captain Smeerworld will never know that we were ever there.”

"Sorry gentlemen I can't override the CnC's orders. The mission is sealed and set. I do know that there is now one other person set to accompany them. Hopefully that can ease your worries a little."

I can see that they are greatly disappointed by my answer. Rodney looks both shocked and devastated. He must have been sure that I would have granted their request. Ronon looked furious, but was in good control of his emotions over it. He has grown a lot over the years. He might consider it, but I have no fear that he would disobey my orders.

I know the intended location of the secret rendezvous to take place and it is near by one of our planetary systems, specifically the one that had recent medical emergency that Voyager 2 had encountered.

As Ronon & McKay turn to exit, I smile and say "But there is something I would like you both to take care of...." they both look confused wondering if I’m going to give them a run of the mill duty or a sneaky plan. I continue "...remember the recent medical outbreak in the Milky Way that Voyager 2 attended"

Rodney looks interested "Go on?" he says

"Well Voyager 2 had to leave early to go and chase the ship responsible, but there are still a lot of technical things to be done there, not least of all a diagnostic of their Stargate, you could...."

"We could”, Rodney interrupts before I get chance to finish my sentence, “lend our assistance in helping get their technology working and who knows the Gate system better than me, of course we would need a team to assist us"

The unspoken plan is to go on an official mission of technical help, but while the Atlantis team works with the planet, Ronon & McKay can shadow the Almar.

The three of us nod at each other, knowingly as I say "You have your orders, to provide technical help to that planet...." then quietly add "...that’s all I know and that’s all the record will show, but if something happens that is urgent" I finish with a wink.

McKay & Ronon can hardly contain their excitement. They run out of my office and head for the supply room and gather team members.

Sensors are detecting a starfleet ship ahead, but we cant at the moment tell if its one of ours or one of the fake ones, it seems to be powered right down, are they playing possum or is it one of our stranded ships that we're also looking for in this region.

I hit the coms "All senior officers report to the bridge, vessel ahead"

In hydroponics when Rommie's voice comes through the coms system requesting my presence, not wasting time I quickly appear on command next to her.

"Is it one of the fake fleet ships or one our ships? And quiet possibly one that has beka. "

As Trance appears on the bridge, Tyr also arrives.

"I'm uncertain if it is friendly or fake at the moment there are no power signatures coming from the ship, we know several of our own ships could be damaged in this galaxy, so its 50/50 it could be ours it could be a trap.

I'd like you to investigate, be discreet use your abilities to check it out, Tyr stand by weapons and shields just in case, if Trance gives the all clear we can either help a friendly ship, or if it is a fake either we can hopefully rescue Beka... or at least find out if they know where Beka is"

Just then a probe is launched from the fake ship, broadcasting on wide band a distress call, making the situation more confusing, are they really in need of help or is it a diversion because they detected us here, but this could be useful... I'll keep them occupied while Trance sneaks aboard their ship.

After being unconscious for some time I wake up again, able to see better then last time. I finely realize am in a holding cell, on a ship or planet is unknown to me.

"Okay, this is definitely not Atlantis anymore."

Looking around the room I notice small window on the far side, but I don't have the strength to stand nor call out to anyone. All can I do for now is wait.

Using their own probe I managed to send my AI to scan their systems, readings suggest they have full power capability, they're definitely playing possum, and although Beka no longer has her coms, her implanted locator beacon seems to be active, she is aboard the ship.

In body aboard the Andromeda, I turn to Tyr & Trance "Confirmed it's a fake starfleet ship, but we can maybe use their possum attempt to our advantage, Trance go get Beka but be careful, Tyr stand by shields & weapons, in case things get nasty....."

I hit the ship coms "... medical bay stand by for officer retrieval..."

Then I open a hail using their probe so they think we're buying their ploy.

"This is Deputy CnC Rommy aboard the Starship Andromeda Asccendent, do you require assistance?"

I nods at Rommie and disappear from command and reappear on the fake starship's hall, carefully making my way through the ship searching for beka. After nearly being discovered several times I come across an area of what looks like holding cells and searches them, till finely I find her.

"Beka"

Noticing she is injured and not moving, I quickly go to her trying to wake her without success. Hearing someone coming I quickly transport us back to Andromeda's infirmary and let's Rommie know I'm back with beka.

"Rommie, I've got her!
